Soner audio ethos

Welcome to a small manufactory based in Hungary, the land of famous composers such as Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, and Franz Liszt. We started developing and manufacturing perfectionist quality audio equipment about thirty years ago. As passionate music lovers, we aim at uncovering the magic hidden in recordings. We are not interested in chasing meaningless technical parameters, because they do not bring us closer to the music. On the other hand, we make it a point to recover as much as possible of the oft-overlooked musical attributes, which cannot be measured but are very audible. What we have in mind is not simply fine resolution of detail or dynamics, but things like tone colors, including the body of musical instruments, speech intelligibility, energy across the full tonal range, orchestral presence and scale, pace, rhythm and timing, tonal balance, the transmission of the performer’s emotions, the appropriate ratio of transient attack, sustain and decay, the ability to sort out the simultaneous sounds of massed instruments, and so on and so forth… However, the knowledge of these individual attributes should never be detrimental to the integrity of the music, the holistic experience of human beings playing together. If you have tested a fair number of audio chains you will know that equipment capable of delivering all of the above is few and far between. This is our number one priority in developing the products we offer; all other considerations, including convenience features and industrial design, are of secondary importance. Our products are hand-made in small production runs, using parts and materials that possess a distinctive, clearly identifiable sonic character of their own, regardless of price or manufacturer. These individual parts are then fitted together in a carefully thought-out design configuration that yields optimal results. Our enterprise is similar to that of the master chef who knows the precise type and quantity of salt or any other ingredient that must be added in order to achieve the desired overall flavor effect. As a result of these design principles, our components have sufficient resolving power to reveal the sonic character of various internal parts, cables, sources and other associated equipment, and even to magnify differences of recording quality. An inferior recording will clearly impair the listening experience, while a superb recording will have the magic ability to transport you to the venue.

We are pleased to assist all users with advice on how to exploit the full potential of our products. Our website is updated periodically with news on the progress we make developing new designs.
